Update from Sister Joanne -- and Thank You for Timau Mission Support
Dear John Newman Mission Community Members, A million thanks for such a generous response to our Kenyan people during our Mission of the Month. It will go very far in helping the people during this prolonged drought. I consulted with those back at base about its usage and they are in agreement that food is the biggest necessity at this time.Hence they will be adding fruits and vegetables and other items to increased amounts of customary food items of dry goods like maize and beans and flour, sugar, and salt. This will much enhance their health, as with just the dry goods they don't get vitamins and minerals which this will now provide. They will be able to do this for many, many weeks ahead now. Hopefully the fall rainy season won't fail them so that there will be a harvest down the line. In the meantime this will be a great stopgap measure to get them through this difficult time.I have attached a few pictures of a recent distribution showing the people taking their portions home. Now we will be able to increase the portions and include more people.
Thanks for your longtime help over the past decades to keep the project going and to help so many. I can't even guess the cumulative total of people helped over all these years. God's blessings for a happy and eventful fall.
Sr. Joanne
